These workshops are designed to reduce stress, develop creativity and increase capacity for connection and joy.
We start with connection to the body through very simple and gentle stretching, noticing where we are holding tension and letting it go, becoming aware of the breath and maintaining this awareness as we move into an exploration of rhythm.
We’ll explore first of all how the whole body is involved in sensing rhythm, through movement and body percussion. We’ll take this further using African drums, called djembes, and other percussion instruments such as shakers, rattles and bells. There will be a mixture of taught rhythms and time for improvisation, developing the confidence to try new things without fear of failure.
